Juniors

An impressive turnout of six Junior athletes battled it out for the hardware. An imposing Reza Poursaleh stole the first place trophy in dominating fashion. Poursaleh's thick broad delts accented his sharp most muscular pose. Brad Ghersini's conditioning didn't go unnoticed by the judges and he was awarded the second place trophy for his efforts. Ghersioni's tall frame was complemented by his small waist and with more years under the iron he will fill out and succeed in the open class. Alex Sami rounded out the top three. Sami lacked the conditioning required to win but his shape was outstanding. Sami presented a leg sweep that is rarely seen on such a young competitor.

Masters

Blast-from-the-past Doug Currey crushed his competition with overpowering muscularity. Currey impressed the audience with his thick side chest, striated quads and a commanding AC/DC inspired posing routine. Fresh off his Stratford win, vascular John Ullmer was awarded second place. What Ullmer lacks in legs, he more than makes up for in his back double bicep shot. The old adage "If at first you don't succeed..." could best describe third place winner Greg Gillan. The veteran Gillan always lacked the extreme conditioning required to place. This time was the exception. Gillan was ripped from head to toe. Although Gillan will have to spend some serious time under the chin bar, his conditioning was the best in the class.

Men's Lightweight

David Pretrinu captured the gold in the Lightweight class. His peeled side chest and symmetrical abs proved to be too much for Paul Brooker and Alex Sami. Pretrinu will have to harden his lower body if he wishes to compete successfully at the Provincial Championships. Despite placing fourth in the Masters, Brooker was able to take home second place in this class and earn a chance to compete at the Provincials. Brooker displayed a vascular most muscular and a well defined back lat spread. Finishing in third was third place Junior Alex Sami.

Men's Middleweight

The Middleweights came to battle as evidenced by a dynamic posedown. As soon as the music started the top three wrestled for edge of the stage positioning. When the dust settled Shannon Anstey was victorious. Anstey displayed a perfect body - full, ripped with pleasing proportions. Anstey had paid attention to all his contest prep details right down to perfect posing and a perfect tan. Junior Champion Reza Poursalgh grabbed the second place trophy. Branden McCraney brought a solid physique to Mississauga. With better conditioning, it is certain he will advance his future placings.

Men's Light Heavyweight

Jim Roxburgh secured first place with his thickly muscled frame - a definite freak. Roxburgh dominated with his ripped side chest and solid back double bi. Rick Rotchild grabbed second place with peaked biceps but needs to improve his chest density. Despite looking over-dieted he was able to impress the judges and audience with a full split during his posing routine. Rounding out the class was Carl Cheung. Cheung has everything it takes to be a champion except he doesn't get lean enough. A few more weeks of dieting and he may have actually won this class. He is certainly a diamond in the rough.

Men's Heavyweight

Masters class winner Doug Currey repeated his performance in the masters class and took home the first place trophy. Luke White was awarded second place. White showcased big calves and thick lats. White's glaring flaw was that he looked better at the evening show. Hopefully, in the future White will nail his conditioning for the morning show when it really counts. The third place trophy went to Peter Chaisson. Chaisson was in good shape but he just needed to come in a bit more shaper. Chaisson sported big triceps and great quad teardrops but it was his conditioning that held him back.

Men's Overall

Locked and loaded, Middleweight winner Shannon Anstey came ready for battle. Both Jim Roxburgh and Doug Currey displayed serious slabs of beef but lacked Anstey's attention to detail. When comparing the class winners it was evident that Anstey was a notch above his competition. He definitely was bodybuilding perfection this evening. Hopefully, Anstey stays on his diet and sets his sights on this year's Provincial Championships where it is certain he will earn his ticket to compete at the Nationals.
